XTRACT DUCT CLEAN are experts in the removal of grease, fat and dirt from kitchen extraction systems. Additionally we undertake kitchen deep cleans involving all aspects of the kitchen and the equipment.
Through the use of special chemicals, equipment and hard work we will transform your tired and grubby kitchen into a clean and hygienic area.
Commercial kitchen cleanliness is essential for a variety of reasons:
Risk of Fire
Compliance with your Public Liability Insurance
Health and safety of your workforce
The Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations and Fire Regulations place a very strict 'duty of care' on the manager of the premises. Part of the regulations stipulates that grease extract systems must be assessed for fire hazards and action MUST be taken to eliminate or minimise potential risks.
There are a number of legal requirements that commercial kitchens and food processing businesses have to adhere to. These include:
Water Industry Act 1991,
The Food Safety Act 1990
Food Hygiene Regulations 2006.
Legislation stipulates that all food businesses need to be registered with their local authority and are responsible for establishing, implementing, and maintaining permanent procedures.
These principles aim to ensure that the prevention of hazards surrounding food hygiene and waste management are controlled hygienically within your business.
A fire hazzard!

The Health and Safety Executive / Insurance companies stipulate that an accredited company must carry out deep kitchen cleaning/grease extraction in order to validate insurance policies.
Kitchen Grease Extraction and Ventilation Cleaning Service - Ensure a clean and safe ventilation system in your kitchen
Cleanliness and fire safety are essential ingredients of every well managed kitchen.
At the heart of the matter is your kitchen extract system, the perfect landing place for grease, oil and other deposits.
We are increasingly dealing with companies whose insurance company requires evidence that a fire risk assessment has been carried out on the grease extraction system and that a professional contractor has cleaned the system.
Grease extraction system includes canopies, fans, filters and ducting.
Accumulation of grease deposits in grease extraction systems present a significant fire hazard.
No matter how efficient the extraction system or your regular filter cleaning programme this build-up of grease is inevitable.
Often Canopies and filters are difficult for staff to access for cleaning. Our service ensures removal of all potential fire hazard deposits from internal surfaces of canopies, grease filters and drip trays.
Apart from the fire risk, the accumulation of grease in the extraction system reduces ventilation efficiency resulting in overheating, excessive humidity and a continuing source of unwanted odours which can permeate the building.
Cooking in commercial kitchens generates airborne grease, carbon and steam, which can condense on the inner walls of kitchen ventilation duct work.
Regular cleaning of the ventilation system prevents these deposits building up, allowing airflow, preventing foul odours and fire hazards.
The (Fire Safety) Order 2005 stipulates that by law the person responsible for the business premise must carry out a fire risk assessment and implement and maintain a fire management plan. Putting in place regular kitchen duct and ventilation cleaning will help to satisfy this law and remove the most common cause of fires within the kitchen.
We will complete a free of charge risk assessment on any ventilation system covered by our duct cleaning contract.
Many insurance companies are now stipulating that an accredited company must carry out ventilation cleaning in order to validate insurance policies.
Where access is limited we are able to install access panels to ensure that thorough ventilation cleaning is completed.
The Guide to Good Practice requires that access panels should be installed at regular intervals in the duct work so that the interior can be cleaned. The access panels comprise a metal panel with rubber gaskets, many older systems do not have access panels.
Kitchen Deep Cleaning Services - Annual deep cleaning helps maintain a high standard of hygiene and compliance with legislation.
We ensure a consistently high standard of kitchen cleanliness/hygiene
Burnt on carbon and fat deposits are removed, ensuring any potentially harmful bacteria are eliminated
Commercial catering environments such kitchens, canteens and food preparation areas must adhere to legislation governing their condition and hygiene standards
Failure to meet the hygiene standards set out by the Food Safety Act 1990 and the Food Hygiene Regulations 2006 can lead to fines
Poor cleaning procedures can lead to bacterial contamination, spread of diseases, pest infestations. This procedure also helps to prolong the life of your expensive kitchen equipment
Daily cleaning routines can maintain a good level of hygiene. However on less accessible surfaces such as walls, ceilings, lights, equipment and kitchen fittings, the gradual accumulation of grease and fat can provide a potential breeding ground for bacteria.
Tailored to the specific requirements of your kitchen our deep cleaning solution can incorporate the whole kitchen or individual pieces of equipment.
No matter how effective your regular cleaning routines are, there will inevitably be a build up of grease on less accessible areas in particular canopies, floors, walls behind equipment, light fittings, switches and ceilings. This type of cleaning generally requires the services of a professional contractor. The increase in Food Hygiene and Safety Regulations in recent years has reinforced the need to ensure a thorough cleaning programme is in place to maintain high standards of food hygiene and safety in catering facilities.
For a hygiene and food safety regime to comply fully with due diligence provisions periodic deep cleaning should be in place to cover those areas which are not fully cleaned as part of the regular cleaning routines.
Kitchen deep cleans are scheduled to meet the customer’s individual needs. The entire kitchen is thoroughly cleaned from “top to bottom”. Where applicable the hot cooking equipment is stripped down and the components, eg burners, cooker tops, oven racking etc. are thoroughly cleaned and where ever possible we aim to return the items to an “as new” condition.
The structure is also given a full clean using a variety of methods dependant on the condition, age and type of surface. This could be via our steam cleaning system or a scrubber/dryer for the floors
All equipment is moved from its position, where it is allowed, to ensure the areas behind and underneath also receive the same treatment as the rest of the kitchen. All other items found in the kitchen i.e. light fittings, pipe work, ceilings, grills etc will receive the same duty of care as the other kitchen equipment.
The main kitchen canopy is cleaned internally, externally and behind the grease filters together with the ductwork and external cowl.
Grease Trap Cleaning and Disposal Service - Safe waste disposal solution
Grease traps are a fundamental part of any commercial kitchen or food processing plant, helping to ensure harmful greases, fats and oils are captured and prevented from entering the drainage system where they could cause potentially damaging blockages.
Grease can build up very quickly inside grease traps making them ineffective.
The accumulation of grease can make it difficult to dispose of and become a source of unpleasant odours.
Waste from grease traps is classified as a controlled waste. The Environmental Health are required to see evidence that regular cleaning of the grease trap has been performed and any waste that has been removed is disposed of by a registered waste carrier.
Regular cleaning and the safe disposal of grease trap waste is managed in an environmentally friendly manner.
We use advance methods to clean your kitchen grease traps thoroughly and efficiently ensuring harmful waste is removed safety and with minimal disruption to your business.
